Tony Burke's annual Christmas/New Year Card winner annouced!

Congratulations to Shivam T. for his winning entry in Tony's annual Christmas/New Year Card competition.

Shivam's entry was used as the front cover of Tony's Lunar New Year Card. He also received a prize of a $50 book voucher as well as a $200 book voucher for his school in the Watson electorate.

A congratulations goes to all the finalists and a special thanks to all the students and schools who sent in an entry.

Fourth Boost for Pension Payments since 2009

Single pensioners will receive an extra $19.50 a fortnight and pensioner couples combined on the maximum rate will receive an extra $29.60 a fortnight-that’s a total of $1, 129.00 a fortnight for couples combined and $748.80 a fortnight for singles.

These indexation increases are a direct result of the Australian Government’s historic pension reforms. These delivered a new indexation system to better reflect the actual costs for pensioner households.

Pricing Carbon

Pricing carbon is the right thing to do, it is an essential economic reform. Australians are the biggest polluters per capita in the developed world. Our climate is changing - we need to reduce carbon pollution now. If we delay pricing carbon now, we risk losing the jobs of the future and threaten our long term prosperity. This is the best way to stop businesses polluting and get them to invest in clean energy. Now is our time to build a clean energy future.

Tony Burke's Watson Waterways Photo/Video Competition Winner Annouced

Congratulations to Darwin S. for his winning entry in the Watson Water Ways Photo/Video Competition.

Darwin received a prize of a $300 Apple store gift voucher as well as a $200 book voucher for his school in the Watson electorate.
