Minister's applaud appointment of Raelene Castle as Canterbury Bulldogs CEO

Minister for Sport Kate Lundy and Member for Watson Tony Burke today congratulated Raelene Castle on her appointment as CEO of the Canterbury Bulldogs.

Senator Lundy said Ms Castle was a fantastic appointment with an exceptional background in sports administration including CEO of Netball New Zealand for the past 5 years with previous roles in the Rugby World Cup and America’s Cup

“I have no doubt Raelene will be a great addition to the Bulldogs football club,” Senator Lundy said.

“Under the leadership of Dave Smith the NRL has taken a very active step forward to ensure it is a more inclusive game for women. The appointment of the NRL’s first female CEO since the Super League is a huge step forward.

“I would also like to congratulate former Bulldogs CEO Todd Greenberg on building the Bulldogs into a such a strong, inclusive club.”

Member for Watson and Patron of the Canterbury Bulldogs Football Club Tony Burke welcomed the news and Ms Castle to the Canterbury community.

“The Canterbury Bulldogs play a key role in bringing our local community together,” Mr Burke said.

“Raelene Castle isn’t just taking on a role for our rugby league team, she is also taking on a role as an important community leader.”
