Tony Burke opens BER Projects at Strathfield South High and Chalmers Road School

Tony Burke, Federal Member for Watson attended the official opening ceremony at Strathfield South High School and Chalmers Road School in Strathfield for projects built as part of the Australian Government’s Building the Education Revolution (BER).

Strathfield South High School received funding under the National School Pride (NSP) program and Science and Language Centres for 21st Century Secondary Schools (SLC) element of the BER. Chalmers Road School received funding under the National School Pride (NSP) program and Primary Schools for the 21st Century (P21) element of the BER.

The BER is a key element of the Australian Government’s Economic Stimulus Plan to support jobs, stimulate local economies and invest in important infrastructure for the long term.

Mr Burke congratulated the school on their new facilities and spoke of the benefit to both the school and local community.

“When we invest in schools we invest in the future of Australia. These projects provided jobs when work was short during the global financial crisis and now they will provide a first class education environment for generations to come.”
