Creative Australia

Creative Australia is Labor’s wide-ranging National Cultural Policy.  From Gough Whitlam’s establishment of the Australia Council, Labor has valued and elevated the contribution of the creative industries to Australia’s social, cultural and economic life.

Our comprehensive plan for the arts will see this sector flourish, reaching out to touch the lives of all Australians, telling Australian stories and reflecting Australian ideas.

In June 2017 the Australia Council released its latest National Arts Participation Survey that confirms the essential role the arts play in our daily life, as well as their reflection of Australia’s diversity and contribution to a healthy and inclusive public life.

Labor continues to consult and hear the views of the creative community on how to adapt and develop our policy to meet the key challenges facing those in the arts and cultural sector.
