MORRISON HUMILIATED AT NATIONAL CABINET

Scott Morrison’s ridiculous proposal to allow 16 year-olds to drive forklifts has been comprehensively rejected at National Cabinet.

This was a dangerous thought bubble from a desperate Prime Minister who has run out of ideas.

Instead of doing the job Australians want him to do – sourcing and providing rapid tests for free for everyone who needs them, supporting our ailing health system and protecting essential workers – Mr Morrison has been busy thinking up ways to allow children to drive forklifts.

At the start of the pandemic, the Government was engaging with workers’ representatives through Australia’s unions to make sure safe workplaces were not compromised.

If those meetings had continued, the Prime Minister would not have concocted a proposal as cruel and as stupid as this one.

This Prime Minister has lost the ability to govern.

Workers at warehouses and distribution centres have worked tirelessly throughout this pandemic to keep supermarket shelves stocked and supply chains running. Many work under insecure labour conditions with low pay. They are among the heroes of this pandemic. They should be rewarded with secure jobs, not dangerous workplaces.
