MEDIA RELEASE: Turnbull & Morrison lying on education funding

Comments from Scott Morrison today are extraordinary, he’s now trying to justify lying to the Australian people with more lies.

When asked this morning about the Gillard Government’s fully funded Gonski plan, Scott Morrison said:

“We met the commitments we put to the last election,”

So what were the commitments the Liberal's took to the last election? During the 2013 Federal Election they promised:

“Liberals will match Labor’s school funding dollar for dollar,”

Less than 12 months later the Abbott-Turnbull Government ripped $30 billion out of schools.

The claim from Scott Morrison the Government has kept its promise on schools funding is dead.

But we now have a situation where Malcolm Turnbull and Scott Morrison are trying to justify this lie with yet another lie.

When Malcolm Turnbull and Scott Morrison claim Gonski was “unfunded” they’re either lying or incompetent.

Labor's Gonski education plan was fully funded and outlined in the 2013-14 Budget.

Malcolm Turnbull promised to be a Prime Minister that would respect the intelligence of Australians, instead we get more of the same Tony Abbott lies.

Every time Malcolm Turnbull and Scott Morrison talk about 'living within our means’, it means a return to Tony Abbott’s disastrous 2014 Budget.

Every time Malcolm Turnbull and Scott Morrison talk about ‘living within our means’, it means cuts to schools, cuts to hospitals, cuts to pensions and cuts to Medicare.

In contrast, Labor has announced more than $100 billion worth of improvements to the Budget bottom-line to help fund health and education and improve the Budget.
