LABOR WILL DELIVER REVIVE LIVE’S ENCORE - SATURDAY, 19 APRIL 2025

A re-elected Albanese Labor Government will deliver a total investment of $25 million over the next two years to extend the successful Revive Live program, providing critical support for Australia’s live music venues and festivals.

Revive Live funding is available to majority Australian-owned live music venues and contemporary music festivals that showcase Australian artists. The program has a strong focus on improving accessibility and inclusion at live music events.

This election commitment extends the program 2026-27 and with an additional investment of $16.4 million, in addition to the $8.6 million in the 2025-2026 Budget, it brings Labor’s new investment to a total of $25 million.

The Albanese Labor Government has already delivered $7.8 million in Revive Live funding which supported 112 live music businesses, including 63 music festival-based activities and 49 live music venues.

This critical extension of funding will create more opportunities for new and established acts to perform, be discovered and enjoyed by audiences.

Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.

Quotes attributable to Minister for the Arts and Member for Watson Tony Burke MP:

“Venues and festivals are under huge pressure at the moment. The Albanese Labor Government established Revive Live because music lovers should be able to enjoy local gigs and artists should be able to make a career out of their music.

“Venue and festival owners across Australia have told me that Revive Live has provided the support they need to continue hosting and promoting live music.

“Gigs have always been a huge part of my life. I know the vital role live music venues and festivals play in providing local artists with the chance to perform, develop and grow audiences.

“This increased funding for Revive Live will help to ensure that the music we make here is the soundtrack to Australia.”

Quotes attributable to Dean Ormston, Chief Executive, APRA AMCOS:

“This investment builds on the momentum of last month’s federal budget, which made clear that music is not just a creative pursuit, it’s a national asset driving jobs, tourism, export and local communities.”

Quote attributable to Howard Adams, Chair, Australian Live Music Business Council:

“This is another example of strong policy in the live music sector from this government, which has already gone above and beyond any other administration in living memory.”

Quotes attributable to Olly Arkins, Managing Director, Australian Festival Association:

“Revive Live has helped more Aussie artists get on stage and festivals organisers to grow their events at a time when budgets have been tight, and ticket sales unsteady. The AFA strongly welcome this commitment.”
