LIBERALS’ ANTI-BUSINESS TANTRUM

The Liberal Party have tried to expose employers to potential criminal penalties after throwing a pathetic tantrum in the Senate.

The Government today sought to remove any possibility of criminal penalties from the “right to disconnect” element of the Closing Loopholes legislation.

For reasons beyond my comprehension Senator Michaelia Cash denied us leave.

I am stunned that after everything Senator Cash has said in recent days her actual position is to have criminal penalties available for employers.

It is difficult to imagine a situation where criminal penalties would ever be appropriate.

And certainly it’s impossible for them to be used in the near future because the provision doesn’t start for six months.

Despite the Opposition’s idiotic and irresponsible behaviour – we will legislate to fix this.
