A RE-ELECTED ALBANESE LABOR GOVERNMENT WILL SAVE THE DUNC GRAY VELODROME IN BASS HILL

Labor Member for Watson, Tony Burke MP, has announced that a re-elected Albanese Labor Government will make sure the Dunc Gray Velodrome remains a sporting facility for the community.

Labor’s $2.5 million election commitment will assist AusCycling with the operation of the Velodrome and offer a space to support elite cyclists who are pursuing their dream of competing in the Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2032.

AusCycling is a not-for-profit entity that aims to connect, unite and grow cycling and riding in an inclusive, sustainable and innovative way.

This election commitment will go towards the upgrade of the Velodrome so that it can support multiple local sports, which will ensure it remains open and that the future of the Velodrome remains intact.

Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.

Quotes attributable to the Federal Member for Watson, Tony Burke MP:

“The Canterbury Ice Rink and the Dunc Gray Velodrome are used by everyone from school kids to Olympians in my electorate.

“They’ve both been under threat at different points, state Labor has saved the ice rink, and now a re-elected Albanese Government will save the Velodrome.”
