LABOR DELIVERING FOR WATSON’S GREEK COMMUNITY
Labor Member for Watson, Tony Burke MP has announced that a re-elected Albanese Labor Government will support two projects for the Greek Orthodox Community of NSW.
The first is a $4.5 million election commitment to the Greek Orthodox Community of NSW to assist the establishment of the Hellenic Historical and Cultural Centre.
The second is an election commitment of $143,000 to support security upgrades to the Greek Orthodox Community’s premises in Lakemba.
The Greek Orthodox Community of NSW is a major cornerstone of support for Greek Australians, helping to foster connections to cultural heritage.
It supports the local Greek community to maintain its connection to culture through the support of afternoon Greek Schools, kindergartens, a hostel for the elderly and providing social services that support the community.
Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.
